Liquidity sweep
A push through an obvious level, then straight back
What it is
Price spikes past a level where stops cluster, fills them, and immediately reverses, leaving a long wick and no follow-through.
What it may suggest
The move was about filling orders rather than establishing a new range. Obvious round numbers, equal highs and equal lows are where it happens.
Where it fails
Only identifiable once price closes back through the level. During the spike a sweep and a genuine break look identical, and calling it before that close is how people hold losers.
Also called stop hunt, stop run, liquidity grab.
