Double bottom

Two failed attempts at the same low

What it is

Price reaches a low, bounces, returns to roughly the same low, and holds again. The high between the two lows is the level that confirms it if price closes above.

What it may suggest

Demand sitting at one price. Reclaiming the middle high is the confirmation, and it is the part most people skip.

Where it fails

A second test holding is common; a third often breaks. The two lows also rarely land at exactly the same price, and deciding how much difference is still a double bottom is where most of the disagreement about this pattern lives.

Also called double bottom pattern, W bottom.
